Marketing recommendations

Marketing recommendations help you decide what to do after reading your weekly report. They connect your website's goal data to a practical action, with clear instructions and an estimate of the time needed.

When there is enough evidence, LodyCDP suggests one priority action and up to two optional actions within your weekly time allowance. You choose which actions to carry out and which email recipients should see them.

Example recommendation

This example uses fictional data for a catering business. It shows the kind of evidence, instructions, draft copy, and follow-up you can receive. The tracked-link placeholder would be replaced with a campaign link in an actual recommendation.

Give your catering page more visibility

Feature it in your next customer email, with a link straight to the service page.

Why this is worth trying

Over 28 days of visits with a full seven days allowed for enquiries, your catering page had 24 enquiries from 180 identified browsers. Your private-events page had 24 from 600, with similar traffic sources and devices.

The catering page looks promising but receives less traffic. New visitors may behave differently.

What to do

  1. Add a short catering feature to your next customer email.
  2. Adapt the draft below and use the campaign’s tracked link.
  3. Mark the action done on the day you send the email.

What LodyCDP will check

Visits from the campaign link and subsequent enquiries. With a 28-day observation period and a seven-day goal window, the first comparison is available after at least 35 days. Low traffic may need more time.

Results describe what happened; they do not prove the campaign caused a change.

A recommendation explains what LodyCDP observed and what is worth trying. It does not guarantee that new traffic will perform equally well or that a page has a defect. LodyCDP does not publish changes, launch campaigns, or spend your budget for you.

Set up recommendations

Admins and editors can configure recommendations for properties they can access. First, configure a weekly report and publish the event you want to use as your goal through the Console.

  1. Open Reports → Marketing setup and turn on Enable marketing recommendations.

  2. Choose a Primary goal from your published events. Specify whether it records a completed enquiry, booking, or purchase, or an interest signal such as a button click. A contact-button click is not automatically a completed enquiry.

  3. Choose how long to allow someone to reach that goal: 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days.

  4. Choose your production traffic scope. Use explicitly production-tagged traffic, or confirm that the whole property is production if your site does not tag it.

  5. Enter your available minutes per week and select the channels you already use: website, email, or social. You can add your audience and business description under Optional business context.

  6. List public business pages that are appropriate to promote and compare. Use one line per page, with a path, a role (service, product, or content), and a business label:

    /catering | service | Catering
    /private-events | service | Private events
  7. Keep Preview only selected, choose Save marketing setup, then Preview recommendations.

  8. When you are satisfied, select Include in weekly emails and save again. Choose the recipients below to opt them in.

For journey suggestions, save a journey ending at your selected goal. If tracking for that goal changes, review and save Marketing setup again before advice resumes.

Choose recipients

In Reports → Recipients, check Marketing recommendations beside each email that should receive the extra section, then choose Save settings.

The checkboxes are off by default. Previously saved selections remain in place, and new recipients stay unchecked until you opt them in. Everyone on the report list receives the regular analytics report; only checked recipients receive marketing recommendations and their follow-ups.

Email recipients do not need Console accounts to read the recommendations. Opening action details or updating an action requires appropriate Console access.

Use Send test now to check the email versions. Test sends use the displayed recipient choices without saving them or creating actions. Report history preserves the original versions and audiences for viewing and resending.

Carry out an action

Open View instructions from the email, or find the action in Reports. Each action contains the evidence, steps, estimated effort, and what LodyCDP will measure. Campaign actions also include Copy text and link. Review the draft for your audience before publishing it.

Use Save update to mark an action:

  • In progress while you work on it.
  • Done after making the change. Enter the actual completion date and time, or leave it blank to use the current time.
  • Snooze one week if you want to return to it later.
  • Not relevant if the suggestion does not fit your business. An optional note records your reason.

Once you mark an action done, LodyCDP saves the earlier baseline and waits for enough later activity to make a useful comparison. Outstanding actions remain available, and dismissed suggestions are not repeatedly presented as new work.

Understand the follow-up

The analytics overview covers seven complete days. Recommendations usually examine 28 days of entries, extending to 56 days when traffic is sparse. They also allow the full goal-completion window, so a recent visit is not counted as a failure before someone has had time to act.

Follow-up takes the observation period plus your selected goal window. For example, a 28-day comparison with a seven-day goal window needs at least 35 days after the action. A small comparison may need longer or remain inconclusive.

Results show how many identified browsers reached the goal before and after the action, with material changes in traffic sources or devices noted. These are browser identifiers, not a verified count of customers. A before-and-after improvement is observational; it does not prove that your action caused the change.

Campaign-specific results require the updated tracker and a recorded visit from the tagged campaign link before the goal. A newer campaign replaces the earlier campaign context, which is retained for at most 30 days. Old visits cannot be retroactively attributed. Keep personal or sensitive information out of campaign tags.

If no recommendation appears

LodyCDP can withhold advice when there is too little traffic, tracking has changed, the production scope is unclear, or there is no credible comparison. Check the explanation shown in Preview recommendations, confirm your goal and page setup, and allow more data to accumulate where needed.

Previewing does not create saved actions. Scheduled preparation creates them when live mode is enabled. If the preview works but recommendations do not appear in emails, confirm both Include in weekly emails and the recipient checkboxes. Your operator may also need to enable scheduled recommendation preparation. Your regular analytics report continues when recommendations are unavailable.
